Lean Six Sigma Methodology in a Health Care Environment

Two Cardinal Health Process Improvement projects will be discussed in this meeting. 

This presentation will also review the Lean Six Sigma tools, including 5S, that were used in the healthcare transactional environment to improve and sustain processes.  

Project 1: Learn how the DMAIC methodology and tools were leveraged in designing a pick path for a low unit of measure product in a distribution center.

Speaker: Matthew Wig

Matthew Wig has worked at Cardinal Health for over 8 years serving in roles focusing in operations and customer contract attachment.  He recently received his certification as a lean six sigma black belt.  As a black belt, Matthew has worked on several complex projects focusing on supply chain process improvement and defect reduction.  

Project 2Learn how the DMAIC methodology and tools were leveraged in a 800+ bed hospital operating room pharmacy to reduce error rates in kit/trays and standardize inventory practices to ensure patient safety.

Speaker: Sandy McIntyre

Sandy McIntyre is a certified Lean Six Sigma black belt at Cardinal Health. Through the combination of 15+ years of market research and strategic analysis and Lean Six Sigma leadership, Sandy has led pharmaceutical distribution finance, accounting, customer service, and pharmacy cross-functional teams to improve and sustain processes to meet customers' changing needs.
