Recertification Tips and Procedure
Successful ASQ Recertification
After obtaining an ASQ Certification, the next most important thing is retaining that certification for the long term. Recertifying every three years is the key to retaining your ASQ Certification. Without recertification the test has to be retaken and passed again.
Paper recertification journals are no longer accepted, all recertification journals must be submitted online.
An update from ASQ HQ:
Recoginizing that ASQ membership offers access to an online array of professional development activities, professional support, and resources such as industry journals, magazines, tools, networks, conferences, meetings, etc., the ASQ Certification Board voted to update the Recertification Journal to include a new category of membership in the Society.
This new benefit will take effect April 1, 2017. Members who are due for recertification in 2017 will be able to claim this
Other changes to the journal include reducing proctoring from 7 recertification units (RUs) to 5.0RUs The rationale is that proctoring is no longer available to many of our members due to the introduction of computer-based testing; so right sizing it makes sense. Members who have amassed 7 RUs can still submit through 2018.

- * Note - we will not award RUs for membership of another professional organization.
- * ASQ will verify your membership status and effective dates based on the points claimed - therefore no documentation is required.
- * Partial credit will not be awarded - to claim 0.5RUs you must have one full year of membership at the time of applying
- Update 2: Reduce Category H (Proctering) from 7 RUs to 5 RUs.
